A community-minded coastal town offering a wealth of life and luxury.
Welcome to Darien
A jewel on Connecticut’s “Gold Coast,” Darien is an affluent town nestled along stunning shorelines. In addition to the resplendent beauty of the town itself and the community-rich environment, residents can venture into the urban grandeur of NYC, which is under an hour away by train from Darien’s two local stations.
The city was originally settled by its “first planters” in 1640 when they purchased the land from the native Siwanoys. The town began as a part of Stamford before it was incorporated under its current name in 1820. From a small settlement to a coastal trading town to the blossomed suburban area it is now, Darien has always been a growing, idyllic place to live.
Residential architecture in Darien is nothing short of astonishing. Historic colonial houses, modernized cottages, sweeping contemporary homes that incorporate the beautiful scenic surroundings—no matter what type of home you’re searching for, this suburban area is replete with elegance.
